So
Clynn has this thing with
fuzzies. And now he has a monkey that has hardly any
fuz left. Let me explain. Since
Clynn was a bitty baby he has always loved
fuzzies. He loved playing with my hair. Loved
fuzzy blankets, and loved CARPET! He would lay on his baby blanket and scoot and until he was off of it and I would find him sucking on the carpet. Gross since I hated our carpet bought by previous owners with dogs.... ugh! Anyways that is a different story for a different day :)
As
Clynn got older his obsession grew. Especially since I continued to let him use the baby blanket our sweet friend Sylvia Gledhill had made out of a very
fuzzy blanket. He also is a MAJOR THUMB SUCKER!!!! We could not keep his thumb out of his mouth. We eventually figured out that if he had a
fuzzy blanket in hand he was more apt to suck his thumb. So we removed the
fuzzy blanket during awake hours. During naps he was allowed the blanket because he was going to suck his thumb regardless in his crib. We had no control of that. What happens in the crib, stays in the crib, right? Unfortunately not always true, but again that is a story for another time. So do you think our strategy worked? Do you think taking his blanket away during the day helped him not to suck his thumb? Well the answer is no. Why? Because he would find random
fuzzies all over the house and in would go the thumb. I would find balls of my hair that he had found on the bathroom floor rolled up in his sweaty little palm. Or perhaps some lint from a sweater, or some
fuzz from the living room rug. He was genius in ways to find new
fuzzies. And I could not keep them out of his hand. He would pick up a stray string from a sewing project of mine and in would go the thumb. Ugh! Nothing Danny and did would keep those
fuzzies out of his hand, and thumb out of the mouth. Danny even put socks on his hands to keep
fuzzies out but he would work the sock until he had pulled a piece off from the inside and we would find a rolled up sweaty string in his palm :)

Here is Clynn with his monkey and his fuzzy blanket. And yes that is Hyrum in the background sucking his thumb. He also is a thumb sucker, but only in bed, and he doesn't have an affinity to fuzz, just his horse and his blanket with the special tag :)

So what does this have to do with Monkeys you may have asked? Well, this is the best part of the story! I have a green little monkey that I have owned for a very long time. Years. I gave this monkey to
Clynn because he always wanted to play with it. Gee, I wonder why? It was covered with
FUZZ! Bright green soft
fuzz! So I gave it to
Clynn and he sleeps every single night with this monkey lying on his chest, arm up beside
Clynn's cheek as he squeezes it close. It is pretty cute to see him and his favorite monkey.

Here is the famous fuzzy monkey. He used to look so much nicer :) Notice his arms are starting to bald.
As I got better at cleaning and
Clynn found less and less
fuzzies around the house, it became very apparent to him that he would have to get
fuzzies from his bed in the morning before I got him out and all chances of having a
fuzzy would be gone! So during the night he would get
fuzzies from his blanket, and then finally one night he realized that he could pull them off of his monkey even though it took some effort, more than was usually required. But he did it, and he loved it! Not only was it a
fuzzy, but it was a
fuzzy from his favorite green monkey! Which leads us to the best part of the story.

And here is his backside! This monkey has a skin disease where all his hair is falling off like the dogs in Venezuela :)

Now when I go to
Clynn up in the morning, the second I open his door, and turn on his light. He stands up as quick as he can and goes to work on his monkey trying to pull frantically every last piece of
fuzzy from it that he can before I get to him and all chances of creating a large
fuzz supply in his palm are lost. ooooh my silly, cute little
Clynn. The first time I saw this I laughed myself to tears, now I worry sometimes about his mental state :) Not really. I too love
fuzz, who doesn't?
